Colonial Hospital

Colonial Hospital was originally built as the Colonial Hotel. However, before it ever opened as a hotel, the decision was made to convert it to a hospital. Many postcards can be found depicting the intended hotel lobby. These aren't to be confused with the later Colonial Inn, the former Hotel Martin. Like many surrounding hotels and medical facilities, the Colonial was constructed with underground connections to Mayo Clinic. Later, it became part of Rochester Methodist Hospital, which eventually was incorporated into the rest of Mayo Clinic. Today, only the north third of the structure remains, including the grand entryway.
